Cardboard Project (crit. #2)
Here are some of my inspirations for this project:
This piece is by Lindsay Liff
This piece is by Warren King
Final Piece:
Title: "prism"
Dimensions: 3ft. long, 2ft. in height and sides
Material: cardboard
With this piece I wanted to accomplish prism in a different form and a dynamic one at most. I decided to pick this piece because I thought it was the most interesting compared to the other sketches i did for this project and I knew it would be a bit of a challenge. There were a lot of things that had inspired be like car logos, and the famous prism on Pink Floyd's album cover. With those inspirations and more I wanted to create a type of prism with a twist and make it my own.
Some of the struggles that I had with this piece were trying to make the points sharp and pointy, and the indentions of the triangle forms in the middle of the piece on the sides. One of the more successful things of the piece is my overall design. I was nervous that I was not going to be able to translate my idea into 3D form, but for my first time working with cardboard, I think I did a pretty good job. I learned a lot from the project and learned some newer skills when it comes to being precise about the piece and making sure the measurements are correct.
