Wire Project

 Title: Octopus

Size: 7 1/2 inches tall and 19 inches in length(back to front)

 Material: Rebar Wire

For this piece I wanted to have a full, solid, and fluid piece. I wanted to have movement and flow with the tentacles and a full solid look, rather than an outline. I thought that with an octopus, it would be the best way to show off movement.

The first two images are before I wrapped the piece:

The next three images is of the finished piece:

The main struggle with the piece was the wrapping of it. The wrapping was not easy and was very time consuming. The body of the octopus, to be more specific, was very difficult due to the shape. I do want to go back and wrap the piece more, but I will have to find a better way to wrap it. In general though I am very happy with the piece and how it came out. I think the tentacles are the most successful part of the piece and my favorite part too. I learned a lot from this project, and even though I most likely will not work with this material again, I know what works and what does not for the material and how it works.
